Stop multitasking

Stop Multi Tasking. đź’š

There’s nothing I believe in more these days than the negative effects of trying to do more than one thing at a time. Small habits like texting while talking, checking emails while working, switching tasks halfway in, are weakening our abilities to ever be able to concentrate again.
It impedes our abilities to find solutions to problems and increases mood swings.
Like smoking, the longer you do it and the more you do it, the harder it’ll be to stop and the effects will eventually be almost impossible to reverse.

The Facts

The science of neurology proves that multitasking isn’t possible.

Multitasking actually “shrinks the brain.”
The prefrontal cortex reduces in size due to the routine mental overload of multitasking.
Less brain matter results in cognitive impairment and a decreased ability to think and reason clearly.

Multitasking always adds to the time a task consumes.
It impedes the “flow of information into short-term memory,” so you can’t recall key information later.
That leaves you trying to complete a task while depending on lost information that you must secure all over again.

When you multitask, your brain cannot properly focus on any single task, and stress indicators such as brain cortisol production rise.
Even though you need to focus, it’s nearly impossible to direct your attention and feel engaged when your mind is distressed and unsettled.

I am telling you all this because we need to become aware that we are doing it.
We need to realize that we’re unable to sit and be present with one task, one stimuli, one person.
And we are ruining ourselves because of it. đź’š
