THE PARTS OF THE YEAR
VISTI LARSEN
The measure of the year depends on the sun’s transit through the signs or the joint transit of the sun and moon also called Tithi or Lunar Day.
Here the sun’s transit alone through the signs shows the resources available through the year. The sun and moon’s joint transit shows how much of those resources we get to enjoy here on earth. Here, the MOST important event is the New Moon in Pisces, from which we will predict the outcome of the entire year. Just as important for our personal year, is the reoccurrence of the Tithi during which we are born.
However, the Sun in all this is the MOST important as its transit will appoint the various responsibilities of the Grahas throughout the year, to be interpreted in the given New Moon chart in Pisces. Some of the most important events are given hereunder.
New Moon in Chaitra (Pisces) is the Rāja or King of the Year. His Prime-minister is found from Sun’s entry into Aries.
Sun’s entry into Taurus is the Mantri or ministers of the Year.
Sun’s entry into Gemini is Ghāpa or lord of pastures and meadows.
Sun’s entry into Cancer is the Sasyādhipa or Corn crops of the Year.
Sun’s entry into Leo is the Senapati or lord of the army.
Sun’s entry into Libra is the Rāsādhipa that affects the fruits, juices and saps for the year. This affects the prices of goods significantly throughout the year.
Sun’s entry into Capricorn is the Nīrasādhipa or lord of the mineral kingdom.
Sun’s entry into Ārdrā Nakṣatra is the Meghādhipa that rules over all clouds and rainfall.
Sun’s entry into Sagittarius is the Dhānyādhipa that affects all grains.
Besides the New Moon in Pisces, the four most important transits are those of the Sun into Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
Other Signs and Nakṣatra are also important in deciding the effects of the year, however, the most important have been given above.
As is indicated above, each of the entries into the signs by the Sun shows the benefits available from that sign. We personally benefit from the Sun’s entry into our own sun-sign occurring prior to our birth.
While these events occur annually what differentiates them from each other is the weekday on which they reoccur which we will explore the results of in our next newsletter.
